Summer Travel Books!

Hey kids!
From what I’ve heard, school’s out for summer! I’m sure you are all beyond excited for summer vacation. I hope you will continue to read over the break though! I have always thought that summer is the perfect time to read the books that you pick out for fun!
Are you going on vacation this summer? I may just have a mystery book that’s based where you are going! I even have a map of the United States that calls out where each of my Real Kids Real Places mysteries are based - check it out here.
Are you traveling to the Northeast?
Cape Cod – The Mystery at Cape Cod - We visited the peaceful Cape Cod National Seashore, but found ourselves awash in a mystery filled with shifting sand dunes, a lonely lighthouse and warnings of an approaching Nor'easter! One cape! One Cod! One lighthouse! One stormy seal! And lots of mystery!
New York City – The Mystery in New York City - One missing torch! Millions of immigrants! A sea of taxis and time was running out! On a visit to NYC we were gridlocked in a mystery that took us on a wild hair-raising tour of the Big Apple's famous landmarks to find a priceless missing piece of history.
Hershey, Pennsylvania – The Mystery in Chocolate Town – We traveled to Hershey, Pennsylvania, just in time for the 100th anniversary of the famous candy company. We planned to tour the chocolate-scented town and eat chocolate. But when silver dollars went missing, we went into action to save the day!
How about the Southeast?
Disney World – The Mystery at Disney World - Four funny friends traveled to Disney World for the vacation of a lifetime! They had a lot of fun, until... A pirate kidnapped one! Ghosts grabbed the second! A mouse house swallowed the third! And the fourth was left to find them all!
Atlanta, Georgia – The Awesome Atlanta Mystery - We headed to the city of Atlanta, to explore the creepy Underground past and the high tech global future, but someone ended up stranded on a giant stone ear!
The Outer Banks – The Mystery of the Graveyard of the Atlantic - You could say deadly Diamond Shoals was "Ground zero" for shipwrecks, once upon a time. In the era before lighthouses and before lifesavers, an enormous swatch of sneaky, shifting sandy shoals worked like skeletal fingers to snatch up ships and sink them! When Papa had to emergency land The Mystery Girl, our spooky, mysterious story began.
Oh, so you’re headed to Midwest?
Kansas – The Treacherous Tornado Mystery - It happens every spring. The air and the earth begin to warm… Mother Nature wakes up from her long winter's nap, yawns, stretches… and Tornado season is born! Join a brother and sister and scientist father as they chased tornadoes to learn more about these dangerous storms.
Chicago, Illinois – The Mystery of the Missing Dinosaurs - One creepy curator, two missing skulls, three batty bats, four funny friends and too many bones! An ordinary trip to see the dinosaurs at Chicago's Field Museum turned into a riot of mystery and laughs as the kids gallivanted all over town trying to learn about Chicago's past in order to solve the mystery and save the dinos.
Detroit, Michigan – The Mystery at Motown - We headed to Motown in Detroit, home of the famous Motown Records and the American automobile industry. We visited historic sites and museums, including the Henry Ford Museum, the Motown Historical Museum, also known as Hitsville, U.S.A., and the People Mover. Then Christina and Grant found a piece of old sheet music from the Motown Records era - and the mystery began!
Going out West, are you?
Los Angeles, California - The Mystery at Hollywood - We traveled to glamorous Hollywood, only to find ourselves involved in a mystery searching for a glittery rhinestone. We toured all of Hollywood's famous tourist attractions, experienced California cuisine, and an earthquake. Along the way, we met a few strange characters including an obnoxious Lucy impersonator, a menacing Spiderman, and a mysterious guide at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.
Hawaii – The Mystery in Hawaii: The 50th State - We traveled to Hawaii in search of paradise and found five islands' worth of mystery, history, lava legends, voracious volcanoes, World War II wonder, BIG waves, and more!
Las Vegas, Nevada - The Mystery in Las Vegas - One lucky lady! Two unlucky kids! Four rolls of the dice! Lots of neon! And a mystery that very likely included a VAMPIRE! What seemed like a city for adults only turned out to be an exciting town for kids who love neon, cactus, gigantic dams, rollercoasters atop hotels, chocolate, swimming pools and vampires.
What?! You’re going overseas?!
London, England – The Mystery at Big Ben - We sped away to London for my appointment with the Queen! Papa headed for the Rosetta Stone. The kids were supposed to go to the Tower of London and "behave themselves." But Grant spotted a big problem with Big Ben!
Mexico – The Mystery at the Maya Ruins - When we went to explore ancient Maya ruins, "number" clues seemed to abound! What was someone trying to lead us to…or away from? Snakes…human hearts…a wall of skulls…human sacrifice? In searching for clues, we encountered the wonder that is Mexico!
South Africa – The Rip-Roaring Mystery on the African Safari – We made a long plane ride to go on a safari! Grant could not wait to see the "Big Five"-lions, elephants, Cape buffalo, rhinos, and leopards. But he and Christina ended up seeing much more—and found themselves embroiled in a hot, dusty, safari-style
