Doris, Zorba, and Orloff are vampire orphans, only it is not certain if they realize that? When they transfer from Transylvania to their new school, the trio fit right in, much to the surprise of their teacher Ms. Bogus, their principal Mr. Ernie, and the school nurse Miss Needle. While it’s clear they are "different" from other students, the vampire orphans soon prove that they’re all about helping, learning, and achieving great things!

The story follows Doris, Zorba, and Orloff in their day-to-day lives of being third-grade vampires, pressures they feel from being different, and ultimately, how they learn to accept—and even embrace—their uniqueness.
