Hey Mystery Solvers,
Did you know the anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo is coming up? The Battle of the Alamo was part of the Texas Revolution. It took place from February 23 to March 6 in 1836. The Alamo is actually still standing in what is now San Antonio, TX! This is one of the most popular tourist sites in Texas. Mimi and Papa took me to visit one time over spring break! Oh yeah, Grant came along too. I’m already counting down to spring break this year…
When we got to San Antonio we went first to check in at our hotel. It was so cool! The hotel was located in the old San Antonio jail! When we got there we were “booked” into our “cell” by the “officers” at the front desk. The bellman who carried our bags was even wearing a traditional black and white striped prison suit! Luckily the “cell” was just a normal hotel room.
We met two new friends from Texas, Juan and Rose, who helped us solve the mystery that quickly found us. While we were finding clues and solving this mystery we got to visit some cool places around San Antonio. We saw all the old areas of the Alamo – the Shrine, the hospital and the soldier’s barracks. We also visited the Cenotaph Memorial, the Circus Museum and the popular River Walk! I don’t want to give away too much, but when we first visited the Alamo, Grant was sure that a trash can filled with burning embers was tipped over by “the Alamo ghost”… then we found our first clue. You’ll have to read the book to find out what happens after that! I’ll even let you read the first three chapters here.
Talk to you soon,
Christina
