Cook Creepy Creations & Spooky Snacks

Hi, CMBC members! Spooky season is upon us, and Halloween is right around the corner! To celebrate, let's cook up some creepy creations! You can share these with your classmates during your Halloween party or make these snacks for an after-school treat. Ask a parent or guardian to help, and make sure you wash your hands and wear gloves when preparing food. Let's get started!

Carole Marsh's "Sort Of" Spooky Trail Mix

What You'll Need:

  • Mini pretzels

  • Nuts

  • Candy corn

  • M&Ms

  • Sesame sticks

  • Wrapped chocolate eyeballs or gummy eyeballs

  • Glass jar

  • Ribbon

Directions:

Instead of mixing the ingredients together, layer each ingredient in a glass jar and give it as a gift to someone. After putting the lid on the jar, tie a ribbon around it with a tag attached that has a clever name like “Max’s Monster Trail Mix” or “Sara‘s Slimy Trail Mix.”

Popcorn Hands

What You'll Need:

  • Popcorn

  • Powder-free gloves

  • Candy corn

  • Ribbon

Directions:

1. Place one candy corn in the bottom of each of the fingers of the glove. These are the hand's "fingernails."

2. Fill the glove with popcorn.

3. Tie a ribbon around the top of the glove.

Ghost Lollipops

What You'll Need:

  • Lollipops

  • Facial tissue

  • Clear tape

  • Black marker

Directions:

1. Cover a lollipop with a facial tissue.

2. Tape the facial tissue around the base of the lollipop to hold it in place.

3. Draw a spooky face on the front of the lollipop.
