Hi, CMBC members! Surprise your mom or mother-figure for Mother’s Day (May 11) with this arts and crafts activity! You can turn everyday items around your house, like cotton swabs, into beautiful bouquets of flowers.

What You'll Need:

  • Brown and blue construction paper

  • Cotton swabs

  • Glue stick

  • Green, purple, dark blue, and blue acrylic paints

  • Paint brush

  • Paper towels

  • Cup of water

  • Paper plate

  • Scissors

Directions:

  1. Squeeze a dollop of green, purple, dark blue, and blue acrylic paints onto your paper plate. The purple, dark blue, and blue paints should be touching but not mixed together.

  2. Paint green stems on a blue piece of construction paper.

  3. Take three cotton swabs and bundle them together. Dip them into the blue, dark blue, and purple paint.

  4. Stamp the ends of the cotton swabs along the stems on your construction paper. Repeat until all of the stems have flower petals.

  5. Cut a pot out of another piece of brown construction paper. Glue it to the bottom of the stems.

Special thanks to Debbie Chapman from One Little Project for this craft project idea!
